We invite ALL to build the Body of Christ
Our Guiding Principles:
- At St. Matthew, we are praying into the wideness of Christ’s graceful action in the world and how we are to live into being part of that action. We walk our faith by committing to being a Reconciling in Christ Congregation. This commitment leads us, as followers of Christ, to reconciliation and wholeness, as we, the members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, invite and welcome all who are seeking God. Believing all are one in Christ Jesus, we welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions, as well as those who may have been excluded because of other human distinctions, such as race, ability, age, or economic status. We commit ourselves to the work of anti-racism, in institutions and internally; interpersonal and structurally. We pledge to ourselves and to all others to live as a reconciling people seeking reparations for those in our communities who have been denied these rights and dignities. In our life together, we seek paths of outreach to the world through the welcome, inclusion, celebration, and advocacy for the beloved in the kin-dom of God.
- Serving the Living God, revealed in Scriptures & interpreted through Lutheran theology, centred in unconditional grace
- Loving all the members of the Body of Christ so that each may reach their full potential
- Cultivating a spirit of discipleship and hope so that ALL may know God’s love and justice
